Energy
This section explores the world of energy:
What disruptions is the energy transition creating, and what new opportunities are emerging from it?
How have we used energy in the past? How will we use it in the future?
We will explore many more questions like these.
However, our focus isn’t only on how energy systems are changing. It’s also on how humans control, convert, and apply energy, and how that ability is evolving.
We will look at the world through the lens of energy. Seen through that lens, history unfolds as a story of evolving tools.
In the past, we multiplied our strength with levers and pulleys. Later, we built machines powered by fossil fuels that could lift what human muscle never could. Today, AI and robotics mark the next leap; tools that not only amplify effort but extend agency, reshaping what’s possible.
Anyone interested in energy will find value here, but this section may resonate most with:
Venture capital partners investing in the physical and digital infrastructure of tomorrow.
Energy and climate leaders at technology companies and green tech startups.
Executives at legacy businesses striving to adapt to a rapidly changing world.
Oats — Other Things
Sometimes, looking at the world through a single lens leads to a poor grasp of reality.
The cosmos reminds us that our vision is only a sliver. By turning to unseen spectra, whole new worlds emerge. Much is gained by seeing the universe not only through the narrow band of visible light, but also through X-ray, infrared, and ultraviolet spectra that reveal realities our eyes alone could never perceive.
Although focusing intently through a single lens can reveal deep truths, a wise mind seeks other perspectives from time to time. Without that, one may mistake a fragment for the whole.
We’ll let curiosity guide us here. This is where the stray thoughts will go: company behavior, leadership psychology, bubbles and busts, geopolitics, industrial shifts, and oddities like book reviews or travelogues. Ideas that may have little to do with energy, but everything to do with understanding the world and making better decisions in it.
Think of it as a sketchbook of a curious mind.
